Licence authorisations

Authorisations are used to customise a licence so that it can be more flexible and better accommodate your specific business model.  There are a range of authorisations available, depending on the type of licence you have.  The most common are listed below.

Primary Service AuthorisationAllows you to serve alcohol to a customer despite them not being provided with your primary good or service.  Most commonly used by restaurants to serve alcohol to customers without also serving them a meal.On-premises

Minors Area AuthorisationAllows minors on certain parts of the licensed premises providing they are in the company of a responsible adult.Hotels, Clubs, General Bars, Small Bars
Sale on other Premises AuthorisationAllows the sale of alcohol at premises other than the licensed premises (such as occasions, functions and events).On-premises licence with catering class
Function of Other Premises AuthorisationAllows the licence to be used temporarily at premises other than the licensed premisesHotels, Clubs
Drink on Premises AuthorisationAllows the sale and supply of alcohol to customers for consumption on the licensed premises, including the licensee's product (produced on the premises) complemented by other types of alcohol.Producers
Special Drink on Premises Authorisation Allows the licensee's product to be consumed on the premises.  Capacity is limited to 120 patrons.  Producers that are micro-breweries or small distilleries
Takeaway Sales AuthorisationAllows the sale of alcohol* for takeaway or home delivery providing the alcohol is supplied along with a genuine meal. Not required until 1 March 2025.
